The same message lands on WhatsApp every week: "I want to go, but I am going alone, is that weird?" Short answer, no. Long answer is this piece.
You will arrive without knowing a soul
And that is the best part. On a group trip everyone arrives in the same state: excited, slightly lost and unable to name a single person. The difference is that there is a shared activity doing the icebreaking for you. Nobody has to make small talk about the weather when the swell is five feet.
In practice, the first dinner sorts it out. By day two the group already has an inside nickname, a playlist and a joke no outsider will ever get.
There will be a bad day at sea
There will. Rain, cross wind, closing sets. It comes with the territory, and that is exactly when the trip shows what it is made of. On that day we change the plan: a hike, a lagoon, video analysis, a long lunch. The itinerary exists to be adapted, not to be obeyed.
What to actually pack
- Stick sunscreen, the liquid kind runs into your eyes while paddling
- Two rash guards, one never dries in time
- Old flip flops, the new pair disappears on the first beach
- A dry change of clothes kept apart, for the wet arrival
- Patience with the tide, it outranks any schedule
And the level?
Every trip states its level on its own page, and we take that seriously. If the trip is for beginners, the instructor gets in the water with you. If it is advanced, the deal is different. When in doubt, message us on WhatsApp and tell us what you have done so far. Everyone is better off with you in the right group.
